College of Idaho's Trish Gibbens captured medalist honors with a five-stroke cushion over the second-place finisher.
Gibbens Grabs Cavalier Classic Title

PRINEVILLE, Ore.—Firing a 2-over 74 in the final round, College of Idaho’s Trish Gibbens overtook Victoria’s Megan Woodland for medalist honors at the Cavalier Classic, hosted by Concordia University on Tuesday.
Gibbens (71-77-74—222) finished 6-over par for the 54-hole tourney to claim a five-stroke win over Woodland (73-73-81—227), who had been cruising until posting a 6-over 42 on the back nine.
Behind Gibbens’ strong play, the College of Idaho (321-328-325—974) made up two strokes on Concordia (319-322-327—968) but finished six strokes back from the defending Cascade Collegiate Conference champions.
The Cavaliers finished in second place overall in the team standings, 19 strokes behind Victoria (313-315-321—949). Northwest Christian (339-344-347—1,030) placed fourth behind the Yotes while Warner Pacific (382-372-377—1,131) and Corban (392-399-436-1,227) finished in sixth and seventh place.
Behind individual champion Gibbens and first-day leader Woodland, UVIK’s Alyssa Herkel (79-75-79—233) placed third overall, one stroke ahead of Concordia’s Sara Molyneux (77-80-77—234). Providing the Yotes with a 1-2 punch inside the top 5, Baylee Borchers (78-81-82—241) edged the Concordia duo of Holli Speer (80-83-81—244) and Samantha Webb (80-77-87—244) for fifth place.
Northwest Christian’s Ashley King (81-80-85—246) fell two spots in the final day to finish in a tie for ninth place while teammate Sarah Crofcheck (79-86-84—249) maintained the No. 12 position to lead the Beacons.
Charlo Bolt (90-91-91—272) overtook fellow Warner Pacific teammate Kendall Cowley (91-89-93—273) by a single stroke to lead the Knights while Morgan McComish (94-95-95—284) charged ahead of Katie Baker (95-93-102—290) to pace the Warriors of Corban University.
The Warriors will host the second CCC tournament of the fall with the Corban Invitational held at Creekside Country Club on October 10-11 in Salem, Oregon.
