NU Tops Warner Pacific in Portland, 3-1
PORTLAND, Ore. – Northwest scored three goals in span of 10 minutes early in the first half to defeat Warner Pacific at a rainy David Douglas field today in CCC men’s soccer action.
Wilbur Velasco scored the first two of the goals for the visiting Eagles, one in the 9th minute, and the second in the 14th minute. Alex Taylor added another goal in the 18th minute to cap the NU scoring versus a shocked Warner Pacific defense.
From there the host Knights settled in and held Northwest to just four more shots while firing 11 shots of their own, but the damage had been done.
Down 0-3 at the half, Warner Pacific pressed forward and generated numerous scoring chances, but could crack the NU defense just once. Cody St. John tapped home a crossing pass from Alija Sacirovic at the 80:39 mark to make the score 3-1.
The Knights fall to 1-4-1 overall and 1-1 in CCC play. Northwest moves ahead to 4-2-0 and 1-1.
