Owls Down Bruins 3-0
NEWBERG, Ore. – The Oregon Tech men’s soccer team picked up its first win of the 2010 season by knocking off NCAA DIII George Fox University 3-0. Oregon Tech improves to 1-2 on the season with the Bruins falling to 0-1.
Tech got on the scoreboard first, striking in the 19th minute when Sam Holcomb sent a nice pass to teammate Ashton Betts who gave the Hustlin’ Owls their first goal of the season.
Rey Chavolla put the visitors up by 2 in the 39th minute when he took a ball from Oscar Alonso-Ayala whose one touch pass from Ashton Betts was sent to the back of the net.
Tech took the 2-0 lead into the half out-shooting the Bruins 9-3 in the first period.
Oregon Tech continued its assault on George Fox out shooting the home team in the second half 15-7.
The Hustlin’ Owls finished off the scoring in the 76th minute when Ashton Betts scored his second goal of the game unassisted as Tech won 3-0.
Oregon Tech will host Menlo College in its first home game of the season next Saturday, September 11th at 11:00 am at Steen Sports Park.
