2009 CCC Newcomer of the Year, Erika Mouritsen, assisted on the game-winner, helping Yotes to 1-0 win
NAMPA, Idaho - Kelly Hardegree-Ullman knocked home the game-winner in the 57th minute, as The College of Idaho won their third-straight season opener, defeating Northwest Nazarene, 1-0.
For the No. 20 ranked Lady Yotes (0-1), it marked the first win over their Canyon County rivals in Nampa since the 2005 season.
After a first half that featured just three scoring chances between the two sides, The C of I took advantage of a Crusaders (0-1) miscue, as Jessica Patton stole a ball near midfield and chipped a long ball to Erika Mouritsen, who found Hardegree-Ullman for the golden goal.
The Yotes nearly made it 2-0 in the 75th minute, but a goal scored by Kayla Bigelow was disallowed due to an offsides call.
Freshman keeper Melissa Holmes was solid in her collegiate debut, recording a shutout.
The Yotes will open up their home schedule on Sunday against the University of Great Falls at 1 p.m.
