KIRKLAND, Wash. - Concordia University (Ore.) scored two early goals and then hung on to shut out Northwest University, 2-0, today in Cascade Conference play. CU’s Facundo Dispascuale scored both the Cavalier’s goals.

Concordia (6-1, 3-0 CCC) jumped out to an early lead just 5 minutes and 9 seconds into the game and after a Northwest shot attempt. CU counter attacked and Dispascuale headed the ball in the goal net from 8 yards out and off an assist from teammate Jared Brace. The Cavaliers kept attacking and Dispascuale headed in his second goal of the day from the left side. Ryan Candella sent a cross from the right side of the goal to get the assist on the play. The score came at the 29:43 mark in the first half. Northwest had opportunities to score but couldn’t convert on their opportunities.

Neither team would score in the second half as Concordia held the edge on shots, 15-14 and shot on goal, 5-3. Wilbur Velasco and Luke Fischer each had 3 shots for NU while Dispascuale led CU with his 5 shots, 3 of them shots on goal. CU goalkeeper Claudio Lazar earned the shutout with 3 saves for the day.

"We played a very good team today," said Coach Gary McIntosh. "They did not allow us to get into our flow of play as we like and that's a credit to them. We need to come out with more aggressiveness from the start. We don't have much time to think too much about the loss today as we have a game to be ready for tomorrow."

Northwest U. will remain at home and will host Corban University on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 3 p.m. in another conference game.
