Gus Bermudez scored both Corban goals as the Warriors held on for a 2-1 Cascade Conference win this afternoon in Kirkland. The game was played under sunny skies and 77 degree temperatures.

Bermudez (Jr., Culver City, Calif.) scored his first goal on a throw in by teammate Aaron Kinnes at 36:07 into the first half. He got his second goal and game winner with two minutes 37 seconds left in the first half, 7 yards out on the right side off a pass from Thomas Brempong.

Northwest U. (4-4, 1-3 CCC) came back to within a goal at the 66:16 mark as Luke Fischer (Jr., Kalispell, Mont.) put one past Corban goalkeeper James Myrvold from the left side of the goal off a cross from Alex Cleveland (Fresh., Spokane, Wash.). The Eagles had two close attempts late in the game which could not find the mark. Luke Fischer got a through ball up the middle and his shot went wide left as it looked like NU would tie the game (75:54). His second opportunity came with 5 minutes left in the game as his shot from the left side sailed just over the top of the goal post.

NU out shot Corban (3-4-1, 2-2-0 CCC) 14-10 with three shots on goal while the Warriors managed five shots on goal, three by Bermudez. Freshman goalkeeper, James Myrvold (Sandy, Orre.), had two saves in goal for Corban and Joe Galbraith (Soph., Whitefish, Mont.) tallied three saves for NU.

"Disappointing to lose two games this weekend," commented Eagle coach Gary McIntosh following the contest. "We are capable of playing better, but this weekend was definitely not our best soccer. It's always tough to come from behind and make up a two goal difference and we have to stop giving our opponents early leads." McIntosh continued, "We need to be scoring first. This week the team will put in the effort needed to put us back on track."

NU will remain at home next weekend as they play host to Oregon Tech on Friday, Oct. 1, and Northwest Christian U. on Saturday, Oct. 2. Both games are scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
