Cavs Rout Geoducks for Third Straight Win

PORTLAND, Ore.—With a 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-19) win over Evergreen State, Concordia completed a weekend home sweep inside the Cavalier Gymnasium on Saturday evening.
With the win, CU improved to 9-6 on the season and 5-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The Geoducks fell to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in the CCC.
For the second straight day, senior Raluca Dinca (Portland, Ore./David Douglas H.S.) led the Cavaliers with 19 kills and 12 digs. Dinca accumulated her tally on just 25 attack attempts while committing just one error for a sizzling .720 hit rate.
Overall, the Cavs hit a season-best .500 after committing seven errors on 86 attempts. Lindsay Mangam (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina H.S.) set up 39 of the team’s 50 kills and added four kills and four digs from the setter position.
Seventeen of Mangan’s assists came in the third set alone while Dinca was successful on 10 of her 11 attempts for a blistering .909 attacking percentage in the finale.
Jazzmin Garcia (Kirkland, Wash./Juanita H.S.) and Jasmine Horton (Seattle, Wash./Foster H.S.) led the Geoducks with seven kills each while Chantel Petkus (West Richland, Wash./Hanford H.S.) gathered a match-high 17 digs.
Concordia is 7-2 in its last nine matches with the two losses against top-25 teams College of Idaho and Southern Oregon. The Cavaliers will now have their next six matches away from their home court with the road trip beginning at Northwest Christian on Oct. 1. On the same night, Evergreen State will host Eastern Oregon.
