PORTLAND, Ore.—In their final non-conference test of the season, No. 2 ranked Concordia defeated Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) 4-0 in women’s soccer action held at Delta Park on Sunday.

With the win, Concordia improved to 8-0-1 on the season while Embry-Riddle fell to 3-6-1.

The Cavaliers got off to a quick start with a pair of goals in the opening 10 minutes of play.  Alex Thomas (Wilsonville, Ore./Wilsonville H.S.) started the spree with a successful header at the 6:20 mark with crafty passing from teammates Kaitlyn Tebbs (Bend, Ore./Bend H.S.) and Sami Andrews (Camas, Wash./Camas H.S.).

Less than two minutes later, Tebbs would return to score a goal of her own with an assist from Jenna Peterson (Federal Way, Wash./Decatur H.S.).

The 2-0 lead would hold until the 67th minute of play as a pressing attack forced Embry-Riddle into an ‘own goal’ while Andrews matched Tebbs with a goal following their early assist with a 23-yard strike in the 86th minute of play.

Kaylynn Winwood (Nampa, Idaho/Columbia H.S.) was credited with her first assist of the season on the play.

The Eagles were limited to three shots on the day with their best chance at breaking through occurring moments into the second half. After finding room on the left side in the 47th minute, Kiley Frazier launched a 30-yard blast which struck the crossbar.

Tori Talbutt (Boise, Idaho/Capital H.S.) and Marie Burn (Tacoma, Wash./Stadium H.S.) combined to post the shutout for the Cavaliers. Concordia has not allowed a goal in nine games played this season, extending its shutout streak to 830 minutes.

Ciarra Pederson stopped five shots while taking the loss in goal for the Eagles.

In addition to a 25-3 advantage in overall shots, CU earned a 10-0 gap in corner kicks.

The Cavaliers return to action on Oct. 1 when it travels to face Eastern Oregon in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener for both teams. Opening kick is set for 2 p.m. in La Grande, Ore.
