EUGENE, Ore. – Although playing in only her 14th career collegiate match, Cori Wallace had what could only be called a career-defining night on Tuesday, completing the first triple-double in Northwest Christian University volleyball history, guiding the Beacons to a tough 25-19, 24-26, 25-23, 27-25 win over Simpson University. The Setter finished the night with 39 assists, eleven kills and ten digs.

Northwest Christian battled a feisty Simpson University squad, looking for their first win ever against the Beacons, but NCU was able to muster just enough for the four-set victory. The Beacons out-hit the Red Hawks with a 59-47 advantage in kills, had an 8-4 lead in service aces and a 10-6 edge in blocking, but Simpson was able to keep the match close from wire to wire, winning a set for just the second time ever in the series. The Beacons are now 5-0 all-time against the Red Hawks.

Wallace, who also had two blocks on the night, tied her career high with eleven kills, hitting .318 as the Red Hawks struggled all night to find an answer for her jump serve. She added ten digs, making it her sixth double-digit effort of the season. She also had 39 assists, which is the third-highest total in NCU history, behind her own 40-assist and 41-assist efforts just two weeks ago.

Also guiding the Beacons to victory was Janel Fetters, who set a career high and NCU season high with 20 kills, adding 13 digs, five blocks, and six assists. Maren Mansfield also had a double-double with eleven kills and eleven digs, adding a pair of service aces. Danielle Nance chipped in five blocks as well as nine kills and Dana Clark tied Fetters with a team-high 13 digs.

Simpson (2-16) was led by Kelly Brown with 18 digs and 16 kills, both team highs. Cashel White was in on five of the teams six blocks and Jackie Nixon registered a team-high 22 assists.

The Beacons (5-9) end a three-match losing streak and will head into the weekend preparing for a pair of Cascade Conference home matches against Concordia University on Friday and Warner Pacific on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 7:00 pm starts.
