The NU Eagles faced a tougher Walla Walla University for the second game in two days for the teams and pulled out a 2-1 non-conference victory to improve their record to 3-0 on the season.

Playing their third game this week, Northwest U. (3-0) got on the scoreboard early again today, just 2 minutes and 49 seconds into the first half as Luke Fischer put one in the net straight away from 8 yards out.

Walla Walla U.’s (0-2) Kevin Nateras tied the score 12 minutes later on a through ball as shot it past the NU goalkeeper from 15 yards out. Northwest’s goalie, senior Brian Swanson (Everett, Wash.) made the save of the day as he saved almost a sure goal off Nateras’ shot  on a breakaway from 18 yards out at the 39:19 mark.

The Eagles’ James Kerr (Bothell, Wash.) got the game winner with 17:15 left on the clock in the second half off assists from Alex Taylor  (Mill Creek, Wash.) and Kyle Tatro (Issaquah, Wash.). It was Kerr's third goal in two days. NU out shot WWU 28-6 but Walla Walla’s defense held tough and goalkeeper, Eric Coon made 6 saves on the day.

"It was a tough game today for the guys," stated Coach McIntosh following the game. "This was their third game in four days and they had to work hard for this win. It did not come easy, Walla Walla was aggressive and worked very hard today. The guys deserve to be 3-0 at this point and it's a good start for the team."

Northwest U. will remain at home next week as they host Trinity Lutheran College on Sept. 7 at 4:00 p.m. on the NU Athletic Field. The two teams met earlier this week in Everett with the Eagles coming away with a 2-0 victory in their season opener.
