LACEY, Wash. – Evergreen cross country competed this last weekend at the St Martin’s University Invitational. Both the men and women ran hard races on a tough course and a stacked field of runners. The women’s team finished 7th overall, and the men finished 8th.

Karissa Carlson (Pateros, WA / JR, Pateros HS) led the Evergreen women in the 6km race. Her time of 24:15 placed her 16th overall, and signified a more than 30 second improvement from her time on the same course since her last race there in 2008.  Her performance earned her the honor of being named Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion Runner of the Week.

A Chittenden (Duvall, WA / FR, Cedarcrest HS) and Britta Peterson (Port Orchard, WA / JR, South Kitsap) followed her across the line with times of 26:54 and 27:41.

Jamie Willis (Skamania, WA / SR, Stevenson HS), Evelyn Coleman (Oak Harbor, WA / JR, Oak Harbor HS), and Alexis Howell (Tacoma, WA / FR, Tacoma SOTA) rounded out the team for the day.

Dustin Miller (Olympia, WA / FR, Olympia HS) led the men in the 8km race. Miller crossed the line in 29:06. He was followed by teammates Tyler Luce (Seattle, WA / SR, Roosevelt HS) and Clint Posey (Lynwood, WA / JR, Meadowdale HS). Newcomers Edward McDugald and Zephyr Forest also ran for the Geoducks.
