#13 Southern Oregon Spoils Knight Home Opener
PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific volleyball opened the 2010 Cascade Collegiate Conference campaign with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-12) loss to NAIA #13 Southern Oregon tonight in C.C. Perry Gym.
The Knights (2-4, 0-1 CCC) hung tough in the first two frames, and led 12-10 in set 2 before giving way to the CCC preseason favorites.
The visiting Raiders (4-2, 1-0 CCC) had Megan Bartling to thank for their success as she hit for 13 kills versus just 3 errors. The size of SOU at the net resulted in 10 total blocks, which was a major part in holding the Knights to a negative hitting percentage for the match (-.037)
Freshman Rachel Warick led WPC offensively with 7 kills on 16 attempts. Caitlyn McCall returned from injury to anchor the Knight defense with 7 digs.
SOU heads across Portland to face Concordia tomorrow night, while Warner Pacific will host Oregon Tech. First serve for both matches are 7:00 pm.
