PORTLAND, Ore. – Rocky Mountain caught Warner Pacific flat footed and scored just 22 seconds into the game to spark the Bears to a 2-0 win over the Knights at David Douglas HS today.

RMC’s Allie Beckers tapped home a Morgan Bowe cross in the first minute to give the visitors the early advantage. The Knight defense righted the ship for the rest of the half, forcing the Bears to shoot from long range which resulted in 7 saves for keeper Nikita Rivera.

The advantage belonged to the Rocky in the second half, as the Bears began to generate chances in their offensive zone. RMC broke through at 75:55 by way of a free kick that was headed in by Beckers for her second score of the day.

The best chance for WP was a 20 yard laser in the second half from Anna Hueberger that scraped the crossbar. Katie Miller also tested Bear netminder Malin Johanssen with a 15 yard strike, but she was up to task and pushed the shot wide with a diving reach.

Rivera finished with 14 saves for Warner Pacific in the loss. Johanssen had 2 saves for Rocky Mountain to preserve the shutout.

Warner Pacific drops to 0-3 overall. Rocky Mountain improves 2-0.

WP heads to George Fox tomorrow night for a non-conference game at 7:00 in Newberg. RMC will face Concordia on Sunday at Delta Park.
