Corban's men's cross country team led by sophomore Taylor Adrian (#1) finished second overall at Saturday's Corban Invitational finishing a mere one point behind race winners Warner Pacific.
Warriors Miss Trophy By Single Point at Corban Invite
FINAL RESULTS
SALEM, Ore. – Despite a valient effort by a quintet of Corban men's cross country runners, the Warriors missed out on capturing the 4th annual Corban Invitational trophy by a single point Saturday even though sophomore Taylor Adrian (Portland, Ore.) and junior Caleb Goins (Scio, Ore.) finished second and third individually.
In the overall team totals, Corban was yanked out of the winner's circle by Cascade Collegiate Conference rival Warner Pacific when the final scores were announced. The Knights had posted 30 total team points versus Corban's 31, while Lane Community College came in a distant third with 70 points.
Individually, Adrian finished second overall for the Warriors with a time of 16:47.95 with Goins posting a third place finish thanks to a time of 17:07.88. Sophomore Jacob Bowdoin (Grants Pass, Ore.) also finished in the Top 10 with a sixth place finish after clocking a 5K time of 17:43.27, while fellow sophomore David Brown (Meridian, Idaho) finished seventh with a time of 17:46.54. Rounding out the scoring position for Corban was junior Jason Hardrath (Baker City, Ore.), who finished 13th overall with a time of 18:31.25.
Other Warrior runners were senior Ben Search (Battle Ground, Wash.), sophomore John Trimble (Vancouver, Wash.), freshman Chris McGehee (Jefferson, Ore.), sophomore Seth James (Snyder, Colo.), freshman Riley Forrest (Springfield, Ore.), freshman Kyle Croft (Spokane, Wash.), freshman Josh Dyer (Tokatee, Ore.), and sophomore Jefferson Forrest (Springfield, Ore.).
Warner Pacific's Karim Skakalia took home the individual trophy with a time of 16:25.65, while Lane Community College's Jacob Berkner was the team's fastest runner with am eighth place finish in a time of 17:49.82. New Hope Christian College only ran one runner, as Caleb Esborg finished 24th overall in a time of 21:07.54.
Corban will return to the course in two weeks on Saturday, September 18th, at the CCC Preview Meet beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Klamath Falls.
