BOX SCORE

SALEM, Ore. – Three different players scored for Corban's women's soccer team, as the Warriors extended their season-opening winning streak to three games with a 3-1 win over NCAA Division III member Linfield Saturday at Warrior Field.

Freshman Audrey Sullivan (Puyallup, Wash.) got the scoring started with a goal in the 8th minute off a through ball assist from junior Rachel Cole (San Ramon, Calif.) that found the lower left corner of the net for an early 1-0 Corban lead. Just over 30 minutes later, freshman Audrey Correa (Riverside, Calif.) capped Corban's first half scoring with a rebound shot off the foot of fellow freshman Rileigh Mankin (Manteca, Calif.) that found the back of the net for a two-goal Warrior lead at halftime.

Almost 20 minutes into the second half, Linfield cut its deficit in half when Caroline Doty teamed with Emily Fellows on a through ball for the Wildcats' lone goal of the afternoon in the 64th minute.

Corban would cling to its one-goal lead until the 76th minute when junior Amanda Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) notched her first goal of the season on a shot from 25 yards away that sailed up and over Linfield's keeper into the left side of the net for the final tally of 3-1 in favor of the Warriors.

The host Warriors controlled the offensive flow of the game in the first half collecting nine shots versus Linfield's three, while the visiting Wildcats turned on the pressure over the game's final 45 minutes with eight shots compared to Corban's seven.

Freshman keeper Alexis Beattie (Brea, Calif.) collected her second collegiate win thanks to three saves in 90 minutes of action between the pipes. Meanwhile, Linfield's net-minder Kelsey Hasselblad recorded a game-high six saves despite suffering the loss.

With the win, Corban improves to 3-0-0 overall and Linfield falls to 1-1-0 on the season. The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday, September 7th, against NCAA Division III member George Fox beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Newberg.
