BOX SCORE

SALEM, Ore. – Exacting revenge from a heart-breaking loss in five sets three seasons ago, Corban's women's volleyball team needed just over one hour to defeat Walla Walla in three sets behind a match-high 16 kills by sophomore Chandra Baskoro (Gresham, Ore.) Tuesday inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

Snapping a two-match losing streak in dominating fashion, the Warriors swept the visiting Wolves (25-16, 25-23, 25-16). Along with Baskoro, junior Tiffany Land (Independence, Ore.) and freshman Bailey Wold (Spokane, Wash.) registered eight kills to go along with a match-high 20 assists from sophomore Karisa Calderon (Murrieta, Calif.).

Defensively, Corban was led by Land's three blocks at the net. The Warriors tallied 67 digs on the night, 15 coming by way of Baskoro. The second-year Warrior was aided by freshmen Allison Pargeter (Anchorage, Alaska) and libero Bethany Durre (Bend, Ore.), who both contributed 11 digs respectively.

Opening the night, Corban jumped out to a 12-6 lead behind two early kills from Land and the serving by senior Heather Anderson (Corbett, Ore.) that pushed Corban's lead to 17-9. Anderson served two aces and forced two errors from Walla Walla to put the match out of reach, as Corban closed out the first set on a thunderous Baskoro kill, 25-16.

In the second set, both teams traded points until the Wolves caught fire behind outside hitter Natalie Wilkening. Walla Walla recorded six straight points to bring the match back into contention after trailing 20-16. Responding quickly, Baskoro recorded two straight kills and brought the match to a 22-all tie. A forced error and another timely kill from Baskoro turned the tide, seeing Corban close out the set in come-from-behind fashion, 25-23.

In the third and final set, Corban, lead by Wold's three kills, exploded to a 18-13 lead. Along with Wold, sophomore Katelyn Davis (Salem, Ore.) and Calderon added two kills to seal the win, 25-16. The set would end on Jami Olerich's service error that sailed wide, giving the Warriors the three-set victory.

Walla Walla was led by Heather McFadden's nine kills to go along with Torrey Haddad's 17 assists.

With its second straight win at home to open the season, Corban evens its record at 2-2 and Walla Walla remains winless at 0-10. The Warriors will return to the court on Friday, September 10th, when they host fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Northwest beginning at 7:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
