BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore.—Behind a sharp-shooting performance from senior Dustin Hiebert, Concordia defeated Multnomah University 125-84 in men’s basketball action on Tuesday night.
With the win, Concordia improved to 7-13 on the season while Multnomah fell to 6-15.
Connecting on 14-of-22 shots from beyond the three-point arc en route to his record-breaking performance, Hiebert’s total tied for the fifth most points by a single individual among Cascade Collegiate Conference records and established a CCC record for most threes in a game.
The previous league record was 12 makes by Corban’s Geoff Smith against Azusa Pacific during the 1998-99 season. At the national level, Hiebert’s tally was the second-most ever by an NAIA Division II athlete as Chad Bickley recorded 18 successful attempts on January 13, 1996 while competing for Christian Heritage.
“It was one of those night nights,” CU head coach Brad Barbarick said. “Dustin hit some unbelievable shots with guys in his face. His teammates were able to recognize what was going on and were able to feed him the ball. It was a special moment and Multnomah Head Coach Curt Bickley made an extremely classy move by coming to our locker room and presenting Dustin with the game ball.”
Coming off the bench, Hiebert scored 24 points in each half and finished 17-of-27 from the field overall. The former school record of 43 points was held by Randy Eason in a double-overtime loss to Western Baptist (now Corban University) on Nov. 18, 1995.
Hiebert led five Cu players in double figures as Kevan West finished with 16 points and was followed by 13 points each from Drew Preuninger and Adam Herman and 10 points from Ryan Miller. Gage Aker flirted with his second triple double of the season with seven assists, eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Cavaliers shot 58.3 percent from the field while holding the Lions to 43.4 percent shooting. Concordia also outrebounded the Lions 55-28 and finished with 35 assists in the game. CU led the Lions 59-34 before scoring 66 points in the second half for the 41-point win. It was the first time since Feb. 5, 2010 that CU has scored 100 points when the Cavs defeated Corban 108-92. The Cavs scored 130 points against Multnomah in the season opener last season.
The Multnomah trio of Steven Bustrin, Jacob Fisher and Chris Haynes combined to score 62 of the team’s 84 points with Bustrin and Fischer scoring 21 points each and Haynes adding 20.
The Cavs return to action on Friday when it travels across town to face rival Warner Pacific College. Opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
