PORTLAND, Ore. -- Concordia has swept the CCC's Red Lion Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors following the Cavs' performance last weekend at the University of Washington Indoor Preview in Seattle.

Women’s Indoor Track & Field

Track: Concordia University’s Andria Scheese, a senior from Oregon City, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Scheese earned an NAIA automatic qualifying time in the mile at the University of Washington Indoor Preview, clocking a time of 5:06.02 to beat the national championship standard of 5:12.00. Scheese finished ninth in a field of 33. Honorable mention: Karissa Carlson, Evergreen.


Field: Concordia University’s Gabriella Dixson, a sophomore from Battle Ground, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. At the University of Washington Indoor Preview, Dixson secured NAIA automatic qualifying marks in the shot put and weight throw . She placed fourth overall in the shot put with a two-foot personal best of 43-10 ½, and she was fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 51-7 ¼.
 

 

Men’s Indoor Track & Field

Track: Concordia University’s Jamin Coy, a freshman from St. Helens, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. At the University of Washington Indoor Preview, Coy clocked a time of 1:57.82 in the 800 meters, the fifth-best mark in Cavalier history. Coy narrowly missed reaching the NAIA provisional qualifying standard (1:57.60).

Field: Concordia University’s Bo Johnson, a sophomore from Toledo, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. At the University of Washington Indoor Preview, Johnson finished in sixth place in the weight throw with a mark of 55-10, easily eclipsing his career best of 54-8 3/4. His effort, the second best in CU history, was good for an automatic qualifying mark to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in March.
