PORTLAND, Ore. -- Four student-athletes representing three institutions have been named Red Lion Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced.

The honorees:

Men's Indoor Track & Field

Track – College of Idaho’s Austin Basterrechea, a freshman from Gooding, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Competing in his first-ever heptathlon, Basterrechea established school marks in the 60 hurdles (9.97), high jump (5-11 ½) and the heptathlon (4,317) at the Jackson’s Invitational in Nampa. 

Honorable mention: Chris Wilson, Concordia.

Field – Eastern Oregon University’s Robbie Haynie, a junior from Nampa, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. In his Mountaineer debut, at the Jacksons Invitational in Nampa, Haynie broke the school record in the pole vault, clearing 17-0 ¾ to finish third. The transfer from Mesa JC currently owns the top mark in the NAIA this season.

Women’s Indoor Track & Field

Track – Concordia University’s Alice Taylor, a junior from Auckland, New Zealand, has been named the Red Lion Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. At the University of Washington Invitational, Taylor posted the NAIA’s No. 2 performance in the 5,000 meters, crossed the finish line in 17:27.17 to earn an NAIA Championship automatic qualifying time. Taylor placed fifth overall in a race which featured 2008 Olympian Kara Goucher.

Honorable mention: Jasmine Sibert, College of Idaho; Alma Garcilazo, Eastern Oregon.

Field – Concordia University’s Gabriella Dixson, a sophomore from Battle Ground, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Dixson moved into the No. 6 position in both the shot put (44-3 ¼) and weight throw (54-1) with season-best marks recorded at the University of Washington Invitational. Dixson earned NAIA automatic qualifying marks in both events.

Honorable mention: Anne Barnett, Eastern Oregon.
