Seniors Lead Beacons Back to Win Column

EUGENE, Ore. – Kellen Spicer (pictured) posted a career high and combined with Quentin Guidry for 52 points as the senior duo led Northwest Christian to an 83-71 win over Pacific University on Tuesday night. 

The Beacons took a 35-30 lead at half-time and went on to shoot 50% in the second half, claiming the 12-point margin of victory. With the win, NCU breaks a two-game losing streak and moves their non-conference record to 6-6.

Spicer scored 31 points for the Beacons (7-10) on a strong night that included his fourth double-double of the season with 14 rebounds as he shot 12-for-18 from the field and 4-for-7 from three-point range. He also had a team-high four assists. Guidry added 21 points, his second highest output of the season as he shot 7-for-17 from the floor. Brian Hampton added ten points and Brent McKee scored eight points and led the team with three steals.

Pacific (2-9) was led by LeMar Anglin, scoring 23 points as he shot 7-for-9 from the field. Carson Bartlett added 14 points while Colin Wester came off the bench to hit four three-pointers and score 16. The Boxer bench outscored the NCU reserves 24-7.

NCU out-rebounded Pacific 36-32 and collected 15 steals as they forced 18 Boxer turnovers.

Northwest Christian will be back in action on Friday, returning to Cascade Collegiate Conference on the road against Concordia University (5-10, 0-5 CCC).
