SOU Athletics/Providence Team Up For Breast Cancer Awareness
ASHLAND, Ore. -- In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Southern Oregon University Athletics and Providence have teamed up for Dig For A Cure Night in conjunction with Wednesday's SOU-Oregon Tech home volleyball match.
The 18th-ranked SOU volleyball team will wear pink jerseys for the match, which will start at 7 p.m. at Bob Riehm Arena.
"We are excited to team with Providence for this very important cause," SOU athletic director Matt Sayre said. "Breast cancer has affected so many, and to bring awareness to our fans and female student-athletes will go a long way. We're proud to be able to give money to a local foundation."
As part of the event, Providence will be handing out information throughout the night and a portion of the paid admission to the match will go to the Sister Therese Kohles Fund. The fund is a charitable mammography fund administered by the Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center at Providence, the region's only Breast Center of Excellence as designated by the American College of Radiology.
Along with the portion of the admission to the match, fans will also have the chance to donate to the fund , as well as a 50/50 raffle with half of the money going back to the fund.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the Wednesday's match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
