LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon University Athletic Department and Mountaineer Athletic Association announced Monday that the 14th Annual Les Schwab Scholarship Scramble on Oct.15 at Buffalo Peak Golf Course in Union, Ore. has drawn 26 pre- registered teams.
The tournament title sponsor, for the seventh consecutive year is Les Schwab Tire Store of La Grande. A major sponsor is Wildhorse Resort and Casino, which is entering its first year sponsoring the tournament.
“We are very appreciative of the support and high early turnout,” EOU Director of Athletics, Rob Cashell said. “The sponsorships, corporate partners and players allow us to raise important funds to support athletic scholarships.”
In 2010 nearly $10,000 was netted for scholarships. The tournament is a four person scramble and will feature many opportunities for teams and individuals to win prizes. US Bank is sponsoring a Masters Tournament Package hole in one opportunity as well as a Hawaii vacation package prize for an expanded putting contest. Goss Motors, which has been involved in all fourteen years, will again sponsor a hole in one prize and a lucky participant could win a brand new EZ Go RXV golf cart. Other prizes include Adidas gear, lodging and meals at local establishments, cash and rounds of golf at area clubs.
