PORTLAND, Ore. – Sam Goldammer scored a golden goal with 30 seconds left in the first overtime to push Warner Pacific past College of Idaho 2-1 at a rainy David Douglas High School field today.

A foul was whistled on the College of Idaho (3-7, 1-2 CCC) in the closing moments of the first overtime, giving the host Knights (3-2-1, 2-1 CCC) a free kick from 20 yards out. Goldammer lined up her attempt and looped in a goal just over the reach Coyote keeper Amy Pierson, off the bottom of the crossbar and over the endline.

Prior to Goldammer’s heroics, the two teams were deadlocked 1-1 at the end of regulation.

Hannah Emmen scored her first goal of the season for WPC, as she gathered a corner kick from Goldammer in the 37th minute and found the mark from close range. Less than five minutes later Chelsea Heffner equalized for C of I, taking a deflected clearance attempt and chipping a volley over a leaping Nikita Rivera from 15 yards away.

WPC’s best chance to win the game before full time was a 20 yard drive from Julie Schmitz, which Pierson directed wide. Early in the overtime period, C of I midfielder Taylor Culver cracked a 25 yard free kick that Rivera didn’t see until late, but was handled nicely by the Knight netminder.

The next contest for Warner Pacific will be at home versus Northwest Christian, 1pm on Saturday October 15th. College of Idaho will host Evergreen State on the same day in Caldwell.
