EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men’s soccer team dropped their fifth straight on Tuesday, falling to Warner Pacific College, 1-0.
Head Coach Brett Bentley said, “We talked a lot about selling out for every second that we are on the field, that our effort has to be 100% at all times and when we get that commitment from them on both sides of the ball, we do a good job and we did that pretty well tonight. It’s a work in progress.”
NCU out-shot the Knights in the first-half but allowed WPC to punch in the game winner with just under ten to play in the frame. Alija Sacirovic, the leading scorer in the CCC, took a cross from Brandon Tatum and fired home a five-yard strike for the only goal of the game.
Warner Pacific (7-3-1, 5-2-1 CCC) finished with a 12-11 edge in shots, including a 6-3 lead in shots-on-goal. Drew Bonifacio registered the shutout, making three saves.
For the Beacons (2-9-1, 0-7-1), Nick Kratzke had five saves. Sam Eymann led the team, taking three shots including two shots-on-goal.
NCU will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Portland to take on Concordia University, ranked #13 in the NAIA. Warner Pacific travels to Salem on Saturday to face Corban.
