SOU Athletics Raises Over $300 For Breast Cancer Awareness
ASHLAND, Ore. -- The first ever Breast Cancer Awareness night for the Southern Oregon volleyball team Wednesday night resulted in not only a victory, but a nice donation to Providence's Sister Therese Kohles Fund.
In front of a crowd of nearly 600, the Raiders made quick work of arch-rival Oregon Tech with a three-set sweep and those in attendance also raised $348 for the fund.
"The great thing about the partnership with Providence is that this is only the beginning," SOU Athletic Director Matt Sayre said. "We have plans for this to grow next October to include all of our Fall sports and continue to do our part to make a difference for this local foundation. For the first time doing this, it was great to see the turnout we did last night and to have our fans rally around this cause."
The Sister Therese Kohles Fund is a charitable mammography fund administered by the Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center at Providence, the region's only Breast Center of Excellence as designated by the American College of Radiology.
The Raiders also wore special pink uniforms for the occasion.
