STATS - Concordia vs. Northwest Christian

PORTLAND, Ore.—Getting a single goal in the first 45 minutes, Concordia generated two scores in the opening moments of the second half en route to a 4-0 win over Northwest Christian in men’s soccer action on Saturday at Delta Park.

With the win, Concordia, ranked No. 13 in the NAIA, improved to 12-1-0 on the season and 8-1-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. NCU fell to 2-10-1 overall and 0-9-1 in league contests.

Fresh off a four-goal game against Warner Pacific, Jared Brace opened up the CU scoring in the 12th minute with a blast into the far post after a long feed from teammate Radcliffe McDougald. McDougald’s 20-yard pass split a pair of Beacon defenders to give Brace space on the right side in order to pick up his first assist as a Cavalier.

Minutes later, the Beacons created a flurry of activity with multiple chances at the evening score. Travis Brown fired left of the post in a near one-versus-one chance with CU goalkeeper Cole Dahle at the 18:25 mark. Just over a minute later, teammate Chris Longi found room on the left side after a defensive mistackle only to dart the ball directly at Dahle for one of his three saves.

Boosting NCU to a 9-to-7 lead in total shots in the first half, Lucas Cash took a dangerous shot following a Beacon corner kick only to see the ball sail harmlessly across the face of the goal and out of bounds in the team’s final quality opportunity.

Concordia dominated play in the second half, outshooting the Beacons 13-to-1 while placing three scores in the back of the net. Facundo Dipascuale doubled the CU lead 36 seconds into the second half with a put back from a Brace shot a split second earlier. With Brace’s attempt blocked back into the mixer, Dipascuale fired from 10 yards out for his ninth goal of the season.

Breaking the game open for CU, Septi Danciu jaunted up the left side after a defensive miscue, leaving the sophomore forward alone with NCU keeper Nick Kratzke. Moving to within 15 yards of the goal, Danciu found the far corner of the netting for his 11th goal of the season.

In the 57th minute, Danciu scored his conference-leading 12th goal of the season with assists from Dipascuale and Nate Boatright to put the Cavs up 4-0.

Dahle earned the win in goal for CU while his counterpart, Kratzke, took the loss after amassing two saves.  Scott Gross finished the game out between the pipes for the Cavs and Erik Carrazco finished the match for the Beacons by collecting three saves over the final 22 minutes of action.

Concordia resumes play on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at The College of Idaho. On the same day, NCU will take its team to Washington for a match against Northwest University.
