Southern Oregon Shuts Out Oregon Tech 4-0

ASHLAND, Ore. – Southern Oregon took the lead midway through the first half and scored three late goals in the second to pull away from Oregon Tech 4-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s soccer Sunday afternoon at University Field.
With the win, SOU improves to 8-5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Oregon Tech falls to 4-6-1 overall and 2-3 in the CCC.
Danielle Stave scored the first goal for the Raiders, taking the ball in the left corner of the box following a corner kick and knocking it into the upper right corner of the net in the 23rd minute. The Raiders outshot the Owls 21-3 in the match and 10-2 in the opening period, but that would be the only goal they would score until the final 20 minutes of the match.
Stephanie Carr gave the Raiders some insurance in the 72nd minute, taking a pass from Alexis Mahoney on the right side of the goal and putting it in from 10 yards out. Less than five minutes later, Julie Zamzow made it 3-0 with a close-range goal from the left side of the net. Sydney Paulsen scored the final goal for SOU with a straight-on shot from 15 yards out to the top left corner of the goal in the 85th minute.
Jessica Kuehlwein made one save while playing the first 81:07 in goal for the Raiders, before Kelsey Clement came in for the final nine minutes. Rebekah Matteri picked up eight saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal for the Owls.
