Steigleman Heads Preseason All-CCC Team

PORTLAND, Ore. – Corban University’s Katie Steigleman, a three-time first team All-Cascade Collegiate Conference selection, has been voted the CCC’s Preseason Player of the Year, according to a poll of the conference’s 10 head coaches.
 
A third-team NAIA All-American last season, Steigleman headlines a 15-person team that features 13 returnees and two newcomers. She is the CCC’s top returning scorer after averaging 19.9 points per game while helping lead the Warriors to a share of the 2010-11 regular season conference championship. Steigleman also averaged 5.9 rebounds and ranked second in the CCC in average steals per game.

Joining Steigleman on the preseason all-star squad are a pair of her Corban teammates – junior forward Tess Bennett (13.2 ppg, 7.2 rpg) and junior guard Emily Tsugawa (10.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg).
Eastern Oregon was the only other institution with three representatives on the preseason All-CCC squad. The Mountaineers are represented by senior guard Kyle Miller (11.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg) and Spokane Falls CC transfers Brooke Randall (19.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg) and Korrie Bourn (15.4 ppg, 9.2 rpg).

Warner Pacific and Concordia each had two selections. The Knights are led by senior guards Kelsey Mattsen (16.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and Cameryn Calhoun (10.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg), while the Cavaliers are represented by senior guards Courtney May (11.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg). Mattsen earned honorable mention NAIA All-America honors as a junior last season.

Others voted to the team include Jessalyn Jackson of Northwest, Katelin Shannon of College of Idaho; Danielle Swain of Evergreen, Lindsey Shearer of Northwest Christian, and Josi McDermott of Southern Oregon.
