Kayla Bigelow had a goal and assist in Lady Yotes win
CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho kept their playoff hopes alive, dominating play in a 3-0 victory over Northwest Christian at Simplot Stadium.
The Lady Yotes (6-8-1, 4-3-1 CCC) will close out the regular season on Monday vs. Corban – securing their sixth-straight postseason berth with a win over the Warriors. A loss by the Yotes or a draw would give Corban the fourth and final Cascade Conference Tournament berth.
After struggling against the Beacons (1-14, 1-7) offsides trap over the first 30 minutes, The C of I struck in the 33rd minute on a corner kick, as Kayla Bigelow played a ball over the six-yard box, finding the head of Taylor Culver, for the 1-0 lead.
The Yotes would make it 2-0 less than a minute into the second half, as Kelly Hardegree-Ullman played a pretty cross to the left corner of the six-yard box, with Bigelow heading home the counter. The C of I would cap the scoring in the final minute, as Brittney Lacey chipped a 20-yard shot over NCU keeper Ali Foster and into the net.
The C of I had a commanding 27-6 lead in total shots, including a trio off the crossbar – including a Lacey flick in the 13th minute that hit the underside of the bar, followed by a Hardegree-Ullman rebound that hit the post. Culver added a header off a corner in the 32nd minute that clanged off the bar, before the Yotes could finally find the twine. NCU had their best scoring chance in the 36th minute, as Katelyn Partridge drilled a 20-yard shot that Aimee Pierson had to extend to make a save.
