CCC Recognizes 9 for Weekly Performances

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Nine student-athletes in the sports of volleyball, soccer and golf have been accorded Red Lion Player of the Week honors for their performances during the period ending Oct. 30, the conference office announced.

The honorees:

Volleyball

Hitter – College of Idaho’s Ciciley Fox, a 5-9 senior from Challis, Idaho, had 27 kills with two errors as the sixth-ranked Coyotes posted a pair of victories to extend their home win streak to 41 straight. Fox had 17 kills in a 3-0 win over Concordia (Ore.) and 10 kills in a 3-0 win over Warner Pacific (Ore.).

Honorable mention: Jasmine Horton, Evergreen; Clair Thiel, Concordia; Chandra Baskoro, Corban; Rebecca Haight, Eastern Oregon; Maren Mansfield, Northwest Christian; Sarah Holgen, Southern Oregon.

Setter – College of Idaho’s Kelsey Soos, a 5-9 junior from Santa Ynez, Calif., recorded a double-double in assists and digs in a win over Concordia (Ore.) and 29 assists while running a 6-2 offense in a win over Warner Pacific (Ore.).

Honorable mention: Lauryn Ernster, Northwest; Erin Mitchell, Evergreen; Lindsay Mangan, Concordia; Megan Dees, Corban; Emily Sampson, Eastern Oregon; Cori Wallace, Northwest Christian; Caryn Westrick, Southern Oregon.

Libero – College of Idaho’s Whitney Brigham, a 5-11 senior from Caldwell, Idaho, had 45 digs to become just the second CCC player with 2,100 career digs. Brigham averaged nearly eight digs per set in the two home wins.

Honorable mention: Heather Shulke, Northwest; Aubrie Concannon, Concordia; Bethany Durre, Corban; Kaitlyn Duncan, Eastern Oregon; Dana Clark, Northwest Christian; Becky Johnstone, Southern Oregon.

Men’s Soccer

Offensive – Concordia (Ore.) University’s Facundo Dipascuale, a 5-11 senior midfielder from Buenos Aires, Argentina, had one goal and three assists as the 12th-ranked Cavs defeated Evergreen (Wash.) and Warner
Pacific (Ore.). Dipascuale has 11 goals and 10 assists on the season.

Honorable mention: Luke Fischer, Northwest; Tyler Hagen, Corban; Chris Longi, Northwest Christian.

Defensive: Concordia (Ore.) University’s Cole Dahle, a 6-0 junior goalkeeper from Wilsonville, Ore., worked 162 minutes of shutout goalkeeping as the Cavs defeated Evergreen (Wash.) and Warner Pacific (Ore.). Dahle totaled eight saves.

Honorable mention: Aaron Reynolds, College of Idaho; Joe Galbraith, Northwest; Nolan Dempster, Corban; Erik Carrazco, Northwest Christian.

Women’s Soccer

Offensive – Northwest (Wash.) University’s Acacia Johnson, a 5-1 freshman forward from Puyallup, Wash., totaled three goals as the Eagles posted home victories over Warner Pacific (Ore.) and Oregon Tech. Johnson, who leads the team with 10 goals, had two goals vs. WPC and one vs. OIT.

Honorable mention: Kayla Bigelow, College of Idaho; Diedre Dornay, Evergreen; Jackie Hendrickson, Concordia; Emily Tsugawa, Corban; Denise Powell, Southern Oregon.

Defensive – Northwest (Wash.) University’s Jordan Holmes, a 5-7 senior goalkeeper from Mountlake Terrace, Wash., totaled 10 saves in recording shutouts vs. Warner Pacific (Ore.) and Oregon Tech.

Honorable mention: Aimee Pierson, College of Idaho; Chantal Schefers, Eastern Oregon; Lauren Davidson, Evergreen; Jackie Hendrickson, Concordia; Jessica Kuehlwein, Southern Oregon.

Golf

Male –Concordia (Ore.) University’s Jesse Heinly, a sophomore from Bend, Ore., had the CCC’s highest finish at the Vikes Shootout in Victoria, B.C. Heinly carded rounds of 75-70—145. He had the tournament’s low round with his 70.

Honorable mention: Joey Duwe, Corban.

Female – Concordia (Ore.) University’s Sara Molyneux, a senior from Vancouver, Wash., fired rounds of 76-74—150 to help the Cavs place second at the Vikes Shootout in Victoria, B.C. Molyneaux’s 74 was the tournament’s low round of the day.
