KIRKLAND, Wash. -  Senior midfielder Abby Brauer (Kent, Wash.) helped put an exclamation mark on Senior Day as she scored the game winner on a penalty kick as NU earned a 1-0 victory over Southern Oregon today in their final regular season game.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half as Southern Oregon held the upper hand in possession and shots, with an 11-4 edge over Northwest, but neither team could score. Alyssa Ericker nearly scored in the 26th minute when her shot was deflected by NU goalkeeper, Jordan Holmes (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) and off the crossbar.

The second half continued to be a defensive struggle as neither team could score. Acacia Johnson (Puyallup, Wash.) had a 14 yard shot from the right side saved by the SOU goalie, Jessica Kuehlwein and Kennedy Roteman had her shot from the left side of the goal saved by NU's Holmes.

In the 81st minute (80:20), Northwest's Lindsey Field (Ontario, Ore.) was fouled in the box setting up Abby Brauer's PK. Her low kick sailed past Kuehlwein and into the right side of the goal for the score and game winner.

Southern Oregon (11-6-1, 7-2-0 CCC) outshot Northwest U. (10-3-4, 6-1-2 CCC) 19-10 including 7 shots on goal. NU's Jordan Holmes had 7 saves for the day for her 7th shutout while Kuehlwein grabbed 3 saves in goal for the Raiders.

The Raiders and Eagles will repeat today's game this coming Saturday, Nov. 5 in Ashland, Ore. in the semifinals of the CCC playoffs. Northwest will be the #3 seed and Southern Oregon the #2 seen. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
