SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - A rainy five-hour bus ride this morning did not damper The College of Idaho, as the seventh-ranked Coyotes swept aside Westminster College, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20, in a non-conference volleyball match-up in Behnken Field House.

The win for the Lady Yotes (14-1) extended their win streak to 11 matches, completing a home-and-home sweep of the Frontier Conference Griffins (7-11).

Westminster jumped out to a 10-7 lead on a Stephanie Jones kill in Set 1, only to see the Lady Yotes rattle off 13 of the next 15 points – including a quartet of service aces, to grab a 20-12 lead. The hosts would battle back, scoring seven-straight points on the strength of the serve of Ashley Marchant, but a Dani Montalbo kill stopped the rally, with a pair of Kylee Nawahine aces helped the Yotes grab the opening set.

Set 2 was even through 30 points, but a Montalbo kill broke the 15-15 tie, starting a C of I four-point push to grab the frame. Set 3 saw the Griffins bolt out to a 14-8 lead on a Marchant ace, but the Lady Yotes fought back – scoring 10 straight points, including three kills from Nawahine and a pair from Torrey Hulsey, to take a 18-14 lead, one they would not relinquish.

Nawahine had 13 kills to lead the Yotes, Hulsey adding 10 kills and four aces, and Montalbo recording eight kills. Kelsey Soos had 36 assists in the win, with Whitney Brigham recording a team-high 14 digs. Marchant had 12 kills and three aces in the loss for the Griffins, with Emily Atkinson logging 27 assists.

The C of I returns to action on Friday night, returning to Cascade Conference play with a 7 p.m. match-up with Corban University.
