Warner Pacific Earns First CCC Win, Defeats EOU 1-0

PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific earned their first Cascade Conference win of 2011 with a 1-0 win over Eastern Oregon at David Douglas High School today.
Anna Blakeslee scored on a breakaway to tally the contest’s only goal, as she fired a shot off the fingertips of Mountaineer keeper Chantal Schefers in the 37th minute.
Much of the match was played between the 18 yard lines, with EOU mustering four shots compared to nine for the host Knights. Eastern Oregon won six corner kicks, including five in the second period but WPC was able to protect their goal each time.
Knight goalkeeper Nikita Rivera made two saves to preserve the shutout, her third this year, while Schefers and Kailey Moss combined for five saves in the loss.
Warner Pacific (2-2-1, 1-2 CCC) will be back in action on October 10th, hosting College of Idaho at 1pm. Eastern Oregon (2-6, 0-2 CCC) will play at Concordia on the same day.
