LA GRANDE, Ore. — Eastern Oregon won a tough battle over conference foe Corban University in four sets, improving to 10-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
Eastern Oregon was led in kills by Senior Alisha Crane with 13. Leading the way in assists for the Mountaineers with 30 was Senior Emily Sampson. Junior Kaitlyn Duncan finished with a game-high 23 digs.
The first set was controlled early by Corban, Eastern Oregon regained the lead halfway through the set and ended up winning 25-17. Eastern Oregon led in kills 17-12.
The second set featured seven lead changes with the Mountaineers leading in kills 16-11 but losing the set 25-23 to Corban.
In the third set, Corban led 1-0 until giving up seven straight points to the Mountaineers. The set was won by Eastern Oregon 25-13, giving them a 2-1 lead in the match.
The fourth and final set was highly contested early, until the Mountaineers pulled away late and won the match 25-18.
Corban University was led in kills by Tiffany Land with 17. Megan Dees had 21 assists to lead the Warriors. Bethany Durre ended the game with 18 digs.
The Mountaineers improve to 12-7 overall and 10-1 in conference. Corban is 8-11 overall and 2-9 in conference.
Eastern Oregon on Friday will face Northwest University in Kirkland, Wash.
