LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team showcased its seniors on Senior Day with a 3-0 win over Northwest Christian University Monday.
Eastern's Amanda Swenson recorded the opening goal in the ninth minute. The senior used a strike from 25-yards out that went high to the far post.
Another EOU (4-10-1, 2-6-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference) senior, Rachael Collins, struck in the 42nd minute for the game's second goal. Katie Yarnell snuck a pass through the Beacon defense and found Collins for her fifth goal of the season.
Four minutes into the second half, Kendra Kuust slid a shot past the NCU goalkeeper for the game's final goal. Kuust recorded her only collegiate goal in her final collegiate game.
The Mountaineers outshot Northwest Christian, 24-9, putting eight on goal, while NCU (1-15, 1-8) had three shots on goal. Each team had one corner kick. The teams combined for 29 fouls, Eastern Oregon committed 16.
Chantal Schefers made three saves for Eastern in her final game. The Beacons' Ali Foster recorded five saves in the match.
Eastern has now won all five meetings against Northwest Christian all-time. The Mountaineers have outscored NCU, 14-1, all-time. EOU improved to 4-7 all-time in Senior Day games.
