Knights Break Scoring Record in 107-40 Victory
PORTLAND, Ore – Warner Pacific broke a school record for points in a game on their way to a 107-40 non-conference victory over Northwest Indian College tonight in Portland.
The new mark breaks the old record set in 2003 in a 101-56 win over Walla Walla College. With the result, Warner Pacific improves to 2-1 on the young season.
The visiting Eagles scored the first bucket of the game, and trailed just 8-7 at the 16:38 mark after a Kyla Frajman free throw. The Knights went on a 13-0 run at that point capped by a Layne Tucker three pointer and never looked back. At the end of the first period, an Alma-Silva Ramirez steal and layup sent the Knights into the locker room with a 60-20 lead.
It was much the same in the second period as WP torched the nets at a 54 percent shooting clip to extend their lead. NWIC improved their shooting accuracy somewhat after halftime, but 35 total turnovers in the game ruined any chance of a comeback for the Eagles.
Five Knights finished the game in double figure scoring, including Cameryn Calhoun with 18 points on 8 of 9 shooting. Silva-Ramirez added a season high 13 points and four assists.
Cheyenne Martinez led the Eagles with nine points, while Kyla Frajman grabbed game high seven rebounds.
