Knights Let One Slip Away at SMU
LACEY, Wash. - Saint Martins scored 10 unanswered points over the last 3:26 of the game to upend Warner Pacific tonight 50-47 at Marcus Pavillion in Lacey.
The Knights (2-2) led 47-40 with 3:26 on the clock, but missed all three of their field goal attempts and committed four turnovers in the final moments to allow the Saints (1-4) to complete the comeback win.
Warner Pacific led by as many as eight points on two different occasions. The Knights also enjoyed 46-38 rebounding advantage but could not overcome 26 total turnovers on the night.
The Knight defense was stout, allowing SMU to shoot just 29 percent (16-56) from the field, but the host Saints held a 18 to 9 advantage in makes from the free throw line.
Morgan Wolff led the Knights with 13 points and eight rebounds. Cameryn Calhoun added 10 points and four assists.
SMU was paced by Brooke Paulsen's 20 points.
WP will be back in action tomorrow night, hosting Cal State - San Marcos at 7pm.
