PORTLAND, Ore. – Chelsey Christensen scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lift Warner Pacific to a convincing 82-60 win over Cal State–San Marcos tonight at Bart Valentine Court.

The visiting Cougars (2-5) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the opening moments, but WP responded with a 13-0 run to take the lead and did not relinquish it. A Christensen jumper with 36 seconds to play gave the he host Knights (3-2) their largest advantage of the first half at 34-21. Sidney Dobner buried a three point shot for CSUM before the buzzer to send the teams to the locker room with the score 34-24 in favor of the Knights.

The Cougars scored the first two buckets of the second period and later closed within four (40-36) on a Michel’La Logan trey, but WPC responded with a 6-0 burst to diffuse the threat. The Knights began to pull away thanks to 60 percent shooting from the field in the period (12-20), and by making 24 of 28 free throws after halftime. Meanwhile the Cougars struggled to find the range, hitting just 12 of 36 field goal attempts.

Joining Christensen in double figure scoring was Cameryn Calhoun with 15 – including 10 of 10 shooting from the free throw line, Kelsey Mattsen (14), and Meaghan White (11). Nichole Jackson handed out nine assists.

Logan led CSUM with 18 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Gabby Munsch and Cassie Damyanovich added eight points each.
