Warner Pacific Calms Tornadoes
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Freshman Doug Thomas scored 20 points, helping Warner Pacific to a 91-71 win over Talladega College during the second day of action at the Daytona-Mitsubishi Tournament at Embry-Riddle University.
The result moved the Knights to 4-2 on the season, while the Tornadoes from Talladega, Alabama fell to 0-6.
Warner Pacific led wire-to-wire, breaking open a close game with a 16-3 run which put the Knights ahead 26-11 with 8:42 left in the first half. The run of play continued to favor WP in the first half and the Knights enjoyed a 45-27 lead at the halftime break.
The Tornadoes matched Warner Pacific basket for basket in the second period, but the deficit was too much to overcome. The Knights continued to shoot with accuracy, posting a 55 percent mark after halftime and finishing the game 33-71 overall.
In addition to Thomas' 20, William Sharp added 15 points and five steals. Stephen Harris registered a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Tarium Taylor led the Tornadoes with 20 points.
