KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Southern Oregon took a double-digit lead into halftime and led by as many as 20 points in the second half of a 70-58 non-conference men’s basketball victory over William Jessup Saturday afternoon at the Midland Empire Insurance Classic hosted by Oregon Tech.

With the win Southern Oregon evens its record at 3-3, while William Jessup falls to 5-2 overall this season. The Raiders return to action Nov. 25, when they will play New Hope Christian at 7 p.m. in the Flagship Inn Classic at Bob Riehm Arena.

Eric Thompson led SOU with 20 points and 11 rebounds, seeing his 30-point game streak end at four contests. Jordan Highland added 14 points for the Raiders and Kyle Tedder finished with nine points in the win. Marqus Crawford’s 19 points and nine rebounds led William Jessup.

Highland’s jumper 12 seconds into the game gave the Raiders’ their first lead, and William Jessup would get its only advantage a couple minutes later when Anthony Anderson’s three-pointer made it 7-6. Thompson hit a jumper to spark a 16-2 run capped by a Kyle Tedder three-pointer with 9:39 remaining in the half.

William Jessup battled back to make it a five-point game at 28-23, but Sam Osofsky and Tim Weber hit back-to-back threes to push the lead back to double-digits, and the Raiders would hold a 38-26 advantage at the break.

Southern Oregon used an eight-point run early in the second half to take a 20-point lead, and the Raiders coasted the rest of the way to the 12-point victory. The Raiders forced 16 Warrior turnovers, while SOU turned the ball over only eight times in the contest. The win evened the season series to 1-1 after William Jessup defeated SOU in the season opener 87-86.
