Steigleman, Ballenger Earn CCC Weekly Honor

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Corban's Katie Steigleman and College of Idaho's Matt Ballenger have been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion Players of the Week in basketball, the conference office announced Monday.

The honorees and their accomplishments:

Men’s Basketball

College of Idaho’s Matt Ballenger, a 6-5 senior guard from Nampa, Idaho, averaged 30.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals as the Yotes split a pair of games with teams receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll. Ballenger had 39 points and nine rebounds in a 79-72 win over William Jessup (Calif.), a game in which he sank 14 of 24 field goal attempts. He followed with 23 points and five rebounds in a 72-60 loss to Holy Names (Calif.).

Women’s Basketball

Corban University’s Katie Steigleman, a 5-11 senior from Eugene, Ore., led the Warriors to a 3-0 record and the team title at the Capital City/Bruce Henderson Memorial Holiday Tournament in Salem. Steigleman was named the tournament MVP after averaging 21.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.7 steals, and 3.3 assists, as the Warriors defeated Johnson & Wales (Colo.), College of Saint Mary (Neb.) and Vanguard (Calif.).
