(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) The Oregon Tech Athletic Department, along with ASOIT, has announced that the first ever Blackout for Hunger is scheduled for this Saturday, December 3rd at Danny Miles Court when Oregon Tech hosts Northwest Christian University.

Oregon Tech fans are asked to dress in all black and to bring a canned food or non-perishable food item for the Klamath-Lake Counties food bank. Anyone who makes a donation to the food bank will get a chance to enter the halftime giveaway sponsored by Main Street Jewelers for a $250 gift certificate.

Blackout T-shirts will also be available for fans to purchase starting Friday night in the lobby for $10.

Food Bank Stats and Facts

The food bank has been serving Klamath and Lake Counties for 26 years and provides food to nearly 6,300 households. The Food Bank distributes about 31,000 pounds of food weekly.

The food bank provided food to assist in the preparation of 450,000 meals that fed children, seniors, the homeless and disabled people.

Who utilizes the food bank and the agencies we serve:
•Seniors •The disabled •Cancer treatment patients •Hospice patients
•Those who have lost their job or had their work hours reduced
•Single parents
•Parents with special needs children
•Those who have suffered from an injury
•Veterans
•The homeless
•People who need a little help, for a little while, and don't want to ask for government help

The food bank currently provides services throughout an 18,000 sq. mile area.
