C of I Seniors go out on a winning note
CALDWELL, Idaho - Nicko Moreno laced a 15-yard shot into the net off a rebound three minutes into overtime, lifting The College of Idaho to a 2-1 victory over Warner Pacific at Simplot Stadium.
The Coyotes (7-9-2, 6-6-2 CCC) closed out the season with a victory on Senior Day, as all eight senior student-athletes were in the line-up.
Deadlocked through 90 minutes, the Yotes had a pair of early chances in the extra session, before an Alexander Schachowskoj shot was blocked to the feet of Travis Newbold - who played a touch pass to Moreno, roping the one-timed shot into the twine.
The C of I held a 10-0 edge in shots in the first half and were unlucky, as the Knights (9-6-3, 6-5-3) cleared a pair of would-be goals off the end line. The Yotes would break through in the 55th minute, as Newbold played a cross to the top of the 6, where Emilio Yomaha laced the sitter into the net.
WP would answer 10 minutes later, as Alija Sacriovic stole a ball from a C of I defender and beat back-up keeper Trevor Spielman to the far post to tie the match.
The Yotes finished with a 25-8 edge in shots, with 11 different players recording a shot on goal - as The C of I finished the home season with a 5-1-1 record.
