Northwest Defeats Southern Oregon 2-1 to Advance to CCC Championship

ASHLAND, Ore. – Northwest scored a pair of goals in the first 14 minutes as the third-seeded Eagles knocked off No. 2 seed Southern Oregon Saturday afternoon in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament Semi-final at University Field.
The Raiders fall to 11-7-1 following the loss, while Northwest improves to 11-3-4 after defeating the Raiders for the second time in less than a week. The Eagles advance to next week’s CCC Tournament Championship match.
Jessica Oliver scored both goals for Northwest, driving down the left side and shooting from 10 yards out to the right side of the goal in the 10th minute to put the Eagles up 1-0. She added her second goal – and the eventual game-winner – minutes later when she knocked it in from about five yards out following an NU corner kick.
Southern Oregon had numerous chances in the second half, outshooting the Eagles 12-1 following the break, but the Raiders were only able to come away with one goal. Stephanie Carr scored in the 73rd minute on a free kick shot from about 20 yards out to make it 2-1.
Jordan Holmes finished with seven saves to keep the Raiders from tying it up late in the match. Jessica Kuehlwein posted three saves to go with the two early goals.
