BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. – Chelsey Christensen scored 18 points, and four other Knights scored in double figures to lead Warner Pacific to a 84-66 win over Concordia in Cascade Conference women’s basketball action tonight at Bart Valentine Court.

Warner Pacific earned their third straight win and improved to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in CCC play. The visiting Cavaliers fell to 4-9 overall and 0-3 in CCC contests.

The Knights took advantage of cold shooting from Concordia in the first half, and built a 26-12 lead after a pair of Kelsey Mattsen free throws in 5:12 to play in the period. A 6-0 run from CU cut the lead down to six points, but the Knights finished the half with a 11-2 run of their own to enjoy a 37-20 advantage at the break.

The Cavs came out firing in the second period, as Rachel Scarpelli drained four shots from three point range in the first five minutes of the half to lead CU back within five points (47-42). WP withstood the charge, and began to find seams in the Cav pressure defense. A layup from Katie Smith put the Knights back up by 11 (60-49) with 8:10 to play and the WP lead never dipped below ten points the rest of the way.

Warner Pacific shot a season best 57 percent from the field and made 32 of 41 free throws tries. CU hit 35.6 percent of their field goal attempts.

Christensen did most of her damage in the second half, scoring 13 of her 18 after the break. Layne Tucker matched her season high with 14 points, while Cameron Calhoun added 11 points and seven assists.

Scarpelli finished with a game high 22 to lead Concordia, while Lexi Amundsen banged inside for a season high 20 points.
