SALEM, Ore. – Junior Emily Tsugawa passed her way into the record books thanks to a game-high and school-record 15 assists in a 91-69 win for Corban's women's basketball team over Northwest Tuesday inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

With tonight's win, Corban pushes its current winning streak to four games improving to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. The Warriors also move into a four-way tie for first place in the league along with nationally-ranked Oregon Tech, No. 9-ranked Eastern Oregon, and The College of Idaho. Meanwhile, Northwest drops out of first place falling to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in league games.

Senior Katie Steigleman led all players with 27 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the field, while junior Tess Bennett added 20 points to go along with a 16-point, 15-rebound, and 4-block showing by freshman Tara Vanweerdhuizen. Senior Shayla Fetters, who was playing in only her second game for Corban, was a spark plug off the bench with nine points, three assists, and four steals.

A back-and-forth game over the opening five minutes would produce a 6-6 tie before Corban used a 7-0 run over a span of three minutes en route to securing a 13-6 lead following a Steigleman jumper with 15:06 remaining. Northwest would pull within two points (13-11), but the host Warriors held their ground and slowly built a double-digit lead (39-27) thanks to a 26-16 run to close out the first half.

The second half would begin with Corban quickly pushing its lead to a game-high 25 points (69-44) on a Steigleman fast break lay-in with 9:16 on the clock. Northwest could only get as close as 15 points (79-64) on a lay-in by Ebany Herd with 4:37 left, as Corban's defense and timely free throw shooting held on for the 22-point win (91-69).

Northwest was led offensively by Carol Howard with 24 points on 8-for-17 shooting from the field that included a 5-for-9 showing from beyond the arc, while Domi Mendezona and Herd chipped in with 16 and 10 points, respectively. The CCC's leading scorer and rebounder, Jessalyn Jackson, was held to a mere nine points even though she pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

As a team, Corban combined to shoot 36-for-82 (43.9%) from the field to go along with a 6-for-20 (30.0%) showing from beyond the three-point line and a 13-for-19 (68.4%) performance at the free throw line. On the other hand, Northwest was 22-for-66 (33.3%) from the field, 6-for-24 (25.0%) from long distance, and 19-for-27 (70.4%) at the charity stripe.

Corban will return to the hardwood on Wednesday, December 28th, in its final exhibition contest of the season against NCAA Division I member Portland State beginning at 7:00 p.m. inside the Stott Center in Portland.
