Oregon Tech Moves Past La Sierra
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech had 10 players score and held visiting La Sierra University to just 33% shooting for the game, on the way to a 77-50 win tonight in non-conference women’s basketball action at Danny Miles Court.
Tech, idle the last nine days, outrebounded LSU by a 45 to 29 margin and used a 46.7% shooting effort from the field to break in Oregon Tech’s new basketball court with a victory. Oregon Tech moved to 13-2 overall and will resume Cascade Collegiate Conference action with a 3-1 CCC mark at home this Thursday and Friday versus Warner Pacific College and Concordia University.
Down 5-0, Colleen Hunt scored Tech’s first points, while Karissa Dixon followed with a 3-point field goal on the next possession to tie the game three minutes in. Tech continued to roll, scoring the next 11 points, as Kaitlin Nielsen capped the 16-0 run with a short jumper to give the Owls a 16-5 advantage with 12:11 to play in the opening half.
A basket from Kassi Conditt gave the Owls their largest lead of the period, 15 points, at the midway point of the period, but La Sierra would chip away over the next 10 minutes, as the Owls took a 38-28 edge into the intermission.
A Morgan Hofman field goal at the 15 minute mark gave the Owls a 46-34 lead, but an ensuing 11-2 Golden Eagle run closed the gap to just three points, 48-45, before Dixon answered with a 15 footer to put Tech up 50-45.
That was as close as the Owls would let it get, as Tech would outscore LSU 27-5 over the remainder of the game and move on to the 77-50 win.
