Oregon Tech Win Streak Snapped, Owls Falls to Warner Pacific 85-75
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A Nick Schultens 3-pointer with 6:34 remaining broke a 60-60 tie as Warner Pacific accomplished a feat not done since March, 1st 2008, defeat Oregon Tech at home. The school-record 65-game home win streak was the longest in the nation at any level before the Hustlin’ Owls fell tonight at Danny Miles Court by an 85-75 final.
Third-ranked Oregon Tech fell to 14-2 overall and 4-1 in Cascade Conference play, while Warner Pacific moves to 12-3 on the season and 4-0 in CCC action. Oregon Tech will host Concordia University Friday at 7:30 p.m. with Warner Pacific traveling to Ashland to take on Southern Oregon University tomorrow.
Bobby Hunter netted a game-high 30 points on 10-of-14 from the floor, including 5-for-7 from long distance. Kyle Gomez added 18 points and eight rebounds with Scotty Riddle and Josh Johnson six points each in the Tech loss.
Five Knights finished in double figures led by a team-high 18 from William Sharp. Biniam Tadele finished with 14 points and Stephen Harris 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Doug Thomas and Sean Gaines added 12 points and 11 points respectively and combined for seven rebounds.
Oregon Tech shot 49.1% (27-of-55) from the floor, while WPC finished 51.5% (34-for-66) on the night. Tech held a slight edge on the boards, 33 to 31, with the Knights forcing Oregon Tech into an uncharacteristically high 24 turnovers compared to just 13 for the Knights.
