Pioneers Edge Lady Knights, 53-52

PORTLAND, Ore. - Lewis & Clark held on for a 53-52 win over Warner Pacific in a non-conference cross town battle tonight at Pamplin Sports Center.
The NCAA Div. III 15th ranked Pioneers (8-0) sealed the victory on a free throw from Kristina Williams with 10 seconds left, which gave the hosts a 53-49 lead. The freebie turned out to be crucial, as WP's Cameryn Calhoun drained a three pointer at the buzzer for the final points of the game.
The score remained close throughout, and Warner Pacific (4-5) held a slim 32-31 lead with five minutes gone in the second period. A 10-2 run by the Pioneers resulted in their largest lead of the night (41-34), but the Knights rallied to within one on a Kelsey Mattsen layup with 55 seconds to play. WP would come up empty on their next two possessions however, and Williams hit 3 of 4 from the line in the closing moments to provide the final margin.
Mattsen led all scorers with 18 points on the night. Calhoun and Chelsey Christensen finished with 10 points each for WP.
Williams paced LC with 15 points.
