Frosty Night For WP Shooters at Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific shot a chilly 27 percent from the floor in a 63-50 loss at Lewis & Clark College at the Pamplin Sports Center tonight.
The Knights' struggles from the field included a 2 for 15 effort from the three point line, while LC managed 44 percent shooting overall and 6 of 18 from beyond the arc.
Warner Pacific (7-3) scored the first basket of the game, but it would be their only lead of the night. The host Pioneers (4-4) scored the next 15 points, and led 15-2 with 13:05 on the first half clock. Later, Justin Leathers gave LC their largest lead of the game (27-11) with a bucket in the paint at 4:40 to play in the period. The lid on the basket lifted temporarily lifted for the Knights at that point, as the Knights closed the half with an 11-0 run to trim the deficit to 27-22 at the break.
In the opening minutes of the second period Nick Schultens provided a steal and layup to bring WP within four points (31-27), but that was as close as the Knights would get. The cold shooting resumed at that point for Warner Pacific and Lewis & Clark slowly pulled away, with the LC lead reaching as much as 18 (61-43) with 3:59 to play. WP ended the game on a 7-2 run to provide the final 13 point margin.
William Sharp hit 5 of 7 attempts from the floor to finish with 13 points for Warner Pacific. Sean Gaines grabbed 12 rebounds and had four steals.
Lewis & Clark was led by James Hollins with 13 points off the bench.
